As I watch the posts about fall move-in days in and K-12 first day photos, a familiar excitement stirs within me - the anticipation of a new academic year. However, my perspective has shifted in the past few years. After two+ decades leading campus teams, I'm entering my 25th year in higher education and my second year as a full-time Consultant, supporting institutions across the country with some of their most challenging and exciting initiatives!
I miss the bustling energy of move-in day, the nervous excitement of new students, and the determined faces of returning learners. Most of all, I cherish the memories of rallying my team of dedicated educators, setting goals, and embarking on another year of transforming lives through education. The camaraderie and shared purpose that comes with being part of a Higher Ed community is truly special.
While I no longer lead a single institution, my role as a consultant has broadened my impact. I now have the privilege of supporting 30+ institutions annually, each with its unique history, challenges, and opportunities. This bird's-eye view of higher education has deepened my understanding of the field's complexities and the innovative solutions being implemented across the country. Additionally, my work with corporate and non-profit clients has opened new avenues for expanding my leadership impact.
As I reflect on this awesome milestone, I'm grateful for the opportunity to influence higher education, corporate, and non-profit organizations on a larger scale. By sharing best practices, facilitating strategic planning, and fostering collaboration between institutions, I contribute to the success of talented leaders all over the country. And working closely with institutional leaders allows me to shape policies and practices that will benefit future generations of learners. The ripple effect of this work is both humbling and inspiring.
I'm also thrilled to share that we have some exciting projects launching this academic year. Big things are happening at Glass Half Full Consulting, so be sure to follow us on LinkedIn and here on the blog.
While I may no longer lead a campus team, my commitment to education remains unwavering. Here's to another year of growth, innovation, and impact in higher education!
I wish you and your teams a successful academic year!
