Our adventure to the Great Smoky Mountains

"We want to take trips where we have quality time together as a family, see new parts of the world, stretch our comfort zones, and have fun together."

Last summer we were fortunate to travel to Maine to visit my in-laws for our annual family vacation. We loved being outside all day and the more moderate summer temperatures! This year, we decided to visit the Great Smoky Mountains. Ben had traveled there when he was Fox's age and we all LOVE Dolly Parton so this was an easy decision for us. We wanted to involve Fox (11) more in the planning so I challenged everyone to research the area and recommend 3-5 activites each for us to do while in the Smokies. I then put all of our recommendations into an interactive slide deck and we voted on the final choices as a family. It was hilarious!

We were able to get everything on our list done in our 4 full days there! We visited: the Titanic Experience Museum, Goats on the Roof Mountain Coaster, Llama Treks- llama farm, the Skyview Lift and suspension bridge, Hillbilly Golf, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, the Smoky Mountain National Park, and of course... Dollywood!

We stayed in an incredible Air BnB high on a mountain outside of Gatlinburg, TN (see first picture below) where we had the most beautiful view of the Smokies. We enjoyed the decks, and loved the pool and hot tub after a long day of walking and riding rollercoasters! Fox kept commenting on how beautiful it was and how much he appreciated this experience- so sweet! The drives were long (12 hours door to door) but we are all good car travelers and had fun along the way. A wide variety of snacks helped!

We want to take trips where we have quality time together as a family, see new parts of the world, stretch our comfort zones, and have fun together. We accomplished that and more on this trip. Here are some pictures of our adventures:
