Earlier this summer, I posted my summer reading list. I have read about half the list so far and added a few others since my original post. Additions: The Fourth Wing, Extraordinary Creatures, and the Hail Mary (book club additions).
Here are some updates including my score and short review for each book:

8.5/10
A creative retelling of David Copperfield set in Appalachia. Great characters, riveting storytelling, and shows the terrible impact of opiate abuse on rural communities. Barbara Kingsolver's voice always explodes off the page and this story does exactly that.

4/10
Why does everyone seem to love this book? I don't get it. The characters were underdeveloped, the story jumped around, and I couldn't find a character to root for with the exception of the basketball friends. Oprah and I will have to agree to disagree on this one. Still love you Oprah!

8.5/10
A creative and inventive story of exploring your major life decisions, regrets, and "what if's" that we all experience. I loved the symbolism of a library in this story and felt a deep connection to the main character.

8/10
This story felt like a movie to me as I was reading it and I was happy to hear that it is in production. Great female lead character, and some fun science and mystery thrown in. I'm excited to see what this will do on the screen.

7/10
An interesting coming of age story set with gaming/game development as the backdrop. Characters were interesting and kept you guessing where they would end up, Great references to the 90's and 00's culture although a bit clunky in parts.
